Hey everybody!
I notice that almost everyone that first starts the game never scouts... and then they are confused when they get cheesed or rushed. I'd recommend sending out a probe or drone at 9 supply, with the probe going after most likely putting down a pylon first. And the scv should usually go scout at 10 after building a supply depot.
You are going to want to do more than just shift click your unit into their base, you want to actually micro it and keep it in there for as long as possible, either until they get zerglings/marines/stalkers to scare your worker away. This will allow you the most information possible.
Yesterday I had a diamond 2s game where I didn't really pay attention when I sent my worker into their base, failing to see that they had in fact rushed me... So going through the motions isn't actually enough you need to be watching your scouter as well.

This is what will happen to you if you don't scout!

New Starcraft 2 Blog!

Hey everyone! I'm Jon and I play a good deal of Starcraft 2 diamond ranked games and  I'm going to share some of my thoughts/experiences about those games and starcraft 2 in general with you.

I actually started out with no prior experience, and literally just copied a 4gate build order and used it to get to ~500pts or so diamond rank after about a week or so of the games release. I think a lot of people who are just starting out don't realize how important build orders are to winning... if someone is using one versus another player who is just doing w/e, they will most likely crush that player with the superior build.

Build orders are important but there many other aspects to the game as you delve deeper into it... seeing as this is just my first post I won't really get into the other important aspects just yet, but I will say that doing things like: scouting, countering, keeping hold of watch towers, macroing/microing and using all of your resources in general are good ideas for getting a higher win percentage. For my next post I will touch down some more on these topics and how they have affected games I've played recently, so be sure to check it out!
